A Family Treasure for over 40 years.

Ernie Stewart purchased his first canoe in 1972 and fell in love with paddling. Out of his passion for canoeing he opened The River Rat’s Canoe Rental in 1979, one year before his son Bill was born.

Bill received his Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Recreation from MTSU. He also spent two summers raft guiding on some of the Southeastern United States classic whitewater runs. In 2005, Bill took over the family business.

The passion for river recreation runs in the Stewart family, as Bill's two young girls love spending time with their dad, canoeing down the DuckRiver.
